About the Programs

Please note: The College is now accepting applications for its January 2011 fast-track acupuncture programs.

CCATCM has two yearly intake dates, for its two and three year acupuncture diploma programs:

A. September intake (September 24, 2011) with classes running from 8:30a.m. - 12:30 p.m. five days a week (Mon-Fri)
B. January intake (January 10, 2011) - fast track program, which allows January intake students to catch up with September 2010 intake student. To catch up, classes for the first three months will run from 8:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. and from 1:00 - 5:00pm five days a week, then revert to 8:30 am to 12:30 p.m.

Tongue Diagnosis3 Year Acupuncture Diploma Program and Intensive 2 Year Acupuncture Diploma Program

The three year Acupuncture Diploma Program may be taken in 2 years through the Two Year Intensive Program.

Our 3 Year Acupuncture Diploma Program and Intensive 2 Year Acupuncture Diploma Program curriculums and our teaching staff meet all standards and requirements of the Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine Association of Nova Scotia (ATCMANS), the Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Association of Canada (CMAAC) standards, and provincial, national and international associations, institutions and organizations

Both programs are registered with the Department of Education in Nova Scotia and qualify for student loans.  Financing options are also available.

These programs provide the graduate with professional training in Traditional Chinese Acupuncture.  At CCATCM we believe that a foundational knowledge of the various Chinese Medicine modalities is essential for a successful Acupuncturist. That is why Acupressure, Tui Na, Gua Sha, Cupping Massage Therapy , Moxibustion, Ear Acupuncture, TCM Herbs & Nutrition, Chi Gung & Tai Chi, etc. are all contained within our Acupuncture diploma programs.

CCATCM is affiliated with the world- famous, Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine in China. CCATCM graduates may pursue a Masters or Ph.D. degree in Acupuncture or Traditional Chinese Medicine through Guangzhou University, which are recognized world-wide. 

Upon graduation, students may work in one of the many hospitals or existing complementary medicine clinics. Graduates may also consider branching out and opening their own acupuncture and complementary medicine clinic.

They are now registered with the Department of Education.

Graduates of our two programs may apply for membership in the Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine Association of Nova Scotia. ATCMANS membership provides access to private health-care insurance, which is considered the life blood of complementary medicine practitioners. They may also apply for membership with the Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Association of Canada.

Students of our programs may apply for internships at various Chinese hospitals. They may also enjoy classes and advanced trainings at our sister colleges in Canada- the Oshio College in Victoria and the Ontario College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Toronto. Our students are encouraged to take provincial examinations though there is no provincial exam to write in Nova Scotia at this time.

The Canadian College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine uses textbooks (English editions) edited by Chinese universities of Traditional Chinese Medicine. These texts are the standard texts in medical universities throughout China. CCATCM is also proud to use text books and manuals written by its staff. The College strives to maintain a library of reference books and teaching aids.
Students not only learn in the classroom, but in the clinic.

We pride ourselves on our access to the S-T and the L-C Acupuncture and Natural Medicine Clinics - the Maritimes' largest complementary medicine centers, in business for over 25 years, as well as to the Advanced Rejuvenation Medi Spas connected to these clinics.

The CCATCM faculty is lead by distinguished doctors of acupuncture and doctors of Traditional Chinese Medicine from several internationally recognized schools. Its core faculty is under the supervision of Dr. Diana Tong Li, Dr. TCM, Dr. Ac MD (China), and Dr. Ganglin Yin, Dr. TCM, Dr. Ac MD (China), highly respected clinicians, teachers and pioneers in TCM.
